Kaufman County's Current Alert System
Texas changed its county notification layer on September 1, 2025. The Texas Office of the Attorney General now directs users to Texas IVSS-Counties for participating-county booking, release, transfer, and court-event notices. The old Texas VINELink page is a legacy transition reference, not the sole current service.
The OAG warns that not every county participates. Kaufman County's Victim Services page documents predecessor VINE participation and specifically mentions bond-out notices. A static public list did not prove that Kaufman is presently transmitting live data after migration. Confirm in the current portal or with support before relying on enrollment.
County IVSS and TDCJ IVSS are distinct. County IVSS-Counties serves participating local custody records. The separate TDCJ post-conviction system covers state prison, parole review, release to supervision, discharge, and warrant events. Neither service covers every federal custody event.
Search a Kaufman County Record
The task is to identify one person and the supplying agency, not browse a general release list. Use full names and agency identifiers to reduce false matches. The live portal uses CAPTCHA, so automated or static access may not show the same result as a completed session.

- If needed, try the first three letters of each name separated by a space.

The fields depend on the record and participating agency. Read them together. A status without a matching person identifier or source agency can lead to the wrong conclusion.

People no longer in custody may not appear in current search results. A missing person does not prove release. If registration already exists, it can remain active in case the person returns to custody. This makes IVSS strong for prospective alerts but weak as a retrospective archive.

Register Kaufman County Release Alerts
Current registration follows the choices displayed by IVSS-Counties. The OAG says migrated VINE users did not need to enroll again, though they should update passwords and preferences on first login. Registration may be offered with or without an account.

- Choose the request-notifications option.
- Select available call, text, or email delivery.
- Complete the current contact or account verification.
- Save preferences, any preferred hours or blackout dates, and the confirmation.
- Contact the reporting agency after a release or transfer notice.
Available notices may include booking, release, court changes, death, escape, or transfer to TDCJ. The menu can vary. Do not assume enrollment for a county event also registers a TDCJ post-conviction event.

Confirm Kaufman County IVSS Alerts
An IVSS alert is event-driven. Agency transmission and portal display can lag. Call the Kaufman County Detention Center or request the sheriff's release sheet for the exact time, reason, and destination. When the event names a TDCJ transfer, allow intake time and search the TDCJ offender system.
Federal custody belongs in the Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator. A released federal record may retain a release date with a “Not in BOP custody” context. ICE's locator checks current immigration detention, while a county sheriff record should first establish that ICE was the receiving authority.

Legacy Texas VINE PIN Rules
Old Texas VINE instructions used a four-digit telephone PIN. A registrant entered a phone number and PIN, then typed the PIN followed by the pound key when an automated call arrived. That acknowledgment stopped repeats, while unanswered calls could repeat for a limited period.
Those steps are historical. Current OAG material for IVSS-Counties does not document a required four-digit phone PIN. Follow any code or contact verification shown by the live portal, but do not impose the old flow. The former claim that records stayed available for a set post-release period is also not a current IVSS retention promise.

Kaufman's VINE-to-IVSS Transition
Kaufman County's Victim Services page still tells readers to use legacy Texas VINE for jail status and bond-out notice. That page remains evidence of the county's former participation. It is not the current statewide enrollment authority after the 2025 transition.
The Texas OAG transition guidance controls the present path. Existing registrations migrated, while live Kaufman transmission could not be confirmed from a static list because the portal is interactive. Search the current system and confirm support when no Kaufman record appears.

Kaufman State-Prison Release Alerts
A Kaufman County conviction can lead to TDCJ, but no TDCJ unit was verified inside the county. Search the statewide offender database after a sheriff record names TDCJ as the destination. Then use TDCJ's separate post-conviction IVSS if eligible notices are needed.
Parole eligibility and projected release dates are not actual release events. A person can remain incarcerated after a favorable board step while planning, programming, or processing continues. TDCJ status, the supplying office, and the alert should be read together.
Note: Registration provides notice; the originating sheriff or TDCJ record remains the confirmation source.
Missing Kaufman IVSS Release Results
The current portal states that people no longer in custody may not appear. That design keeps the search focused on current custody or supervision, but it limits after-the-fact research. A former county record may disappear even though a user's existing registration remains active in case the person returns. Save confirmation details at enrollment and do not depend on a later search to recreate the event.
When no result appears, first check spelling and a partial-name form. Then confirm whether Kaufman County is available as the supplying agency in the live portal. If the person remains on the sheriff's current roster, the issue may be portal participation or transmission lag rather than release. If the person is absent from both, request the sheriff transaction. Absence alone cannot reveal bond, transfer, or another outcome.

Respond to Kaufman Release Alerts
Read the event wording, date, person identifiers, and reporting agency before acting. A transfer notice means custody moved; it does not necessarily mean community release. A bond-out notice means physical jail custody ended under a court-authorized release, while the case and any conditions can continue. A TDCJ transfer starts a state intake path that may not appear in the offender search at once.
Contact the reporting agency and ask what occurred, when it occurred, and where custody went next. Keep the alert confirmation number or registration record, but obtain the release sheet when documentary proof is required. If the notice conflicts with a live roster, note both access times and ask the agency to reconcile the status.
