An active investigation, juvenile confidentiality, protected information, an expunction order, compiled-history privacy, or another law may affect release of a particular image.
Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs public-information requests. The custodian that created or received the record must review the request. Kaufman Roster Photo Limits
The official Kaufman County jail application separates current and released modes. An individual current booking record may supply an image. The released grid lists Full Name, Age, Race, Sex, and Admit Date, with charge-court type, primary charge, and arresting agency in responsive data definitions. It does not expose a photograph, exact release time, release reason, or destination.
No official Kaufman sheriff mobile app was identified in the official-site sweep. A page should not promise an app-only image or tell readers to install an unverified product. The official released mode can still help identify the booking episode, but it has no published refresh cadence or retention promise. If the person is found, record the spelling, admit date, and any available identifier promptly.
A current-roster disappearance and a released-grid result show that county custody changed. They do not prove community release. The Kaufman County Sheriff's Open Records Request is the direct county channel. A narrow request helps staff match the image to the right confinement episode and reduces namesake errors. No specific sheriff copy-fee schedule was found, so no amount should be assumed.
- Gather full name, date of birth, SO or booking number, booking date, and case number if known.
- Identify the Kaufman County Detention Center and ask for the photograph associated with that exact booking.
- Also request the booking and release sheet when release date, type, or receiving authority matters.
- Choose electronic delivery if suitable and allow redactions permitted by law.
- If an image is withheld, ask the sheriff to identify the legal authority applied to that record.

The sheriff says an accepted redacted copy will be provided within ten working days. A request for an unredacted record may be referred for an Attorney General ruling and can take up to forty-five working days. Kaufman News Photo Context
Official agency releases and local news can preserve a photograph that was lawfully published at the time of an arrest or case event. Such an image is dated secondary context. The story may not be updated after dismissal, transfer, later court action, or release, so the current sheriff, court, or TDCJ record must carry the status check.
Commercial arrest-photo sites may surface in a broad search, but they can be stale, mislabeled, or incomplete. They are not authoritative custodians and are not linked here. A demand for payment to correct or remove a criminal-record publication also raises a distinct Texas statutory issue. The safer path is an official request, a documented correction sent to the publisher, and the court order when expunction or nondisclosure applies.
Search by an exact name plus agency and booking date, then compare the image caption to the source record. Do not use facial resemblance alone. Common names, reposted articles, and copied captions can connect a photo to the wrong person or the wrong jail episode.
Kaufman Mugshot Correction and Expunction
Texas Business and Commerce Code Chapter 109 regulates covered businesses that publish criminal-record information and associated arrest or justice photographs. It creates correction and removal mechanisms and bars a covered publisher from charging to remove, correct, or modify covered information. It is not a blanket ban on publication and does not order Kaufman County to keep every image online.
Texas expunction now falls under Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A. Eligibility depends on the case outcome and statutory conditions; release from jail alone does not qualify a record. A valid expunction order directs covered agencies to destroy, delete, or return covered records and limits disclosure as the law provides. Nondisclosure under Government Code Chapter 411 is different. It generally restricts public disclosure of covered criminal-history information while preserving access for authorized entities.
Start with the signed order. Send it and a precise correction request to the official custodian or publisher that holds the image. The Kaufman County court record helps establish the disposition, while the sheriff controls its detention file. Avoid saying a record was erased when the relief is only nondisclosure.
Kaufman State and Federal Photos
A Kaufman jail transfer to TDCJ shifts the search to the state system. TDCJ's public offender search should not be described as a guaranteed photo source. Its streamlined offender-information email expressly excludes photographs. A formal TDCJ Public Information Act request may ask for a public identification image and should include name, aliases, birth date, TDCJ or SID number, conviction county, and dates. TDCJ reviews the request under current law and policy.
The Texas DPS Public Sex Offender Registry can display a color photograph only for a person with an active Chapter 62 registration duty. It is not a broad gallery of people released in Kaufman County, and a missing registry result says nothing about an ordinary jail release. Use it only when that narrow statutory channel applies.
Federal tools do not fill the county-photo gap. The BOP locator can retain a release date and show that a person is not in BOP custody, but it does not present a booking photo. ICE's locator addresses current detention status, and USMS generally does not provide a public released-person photo archive.
